The Fiat Qubo is an affordable, compact car that is designed to live up to its name.
The Qubo has a high square cube-like cabin. It is basically a cute van-like car with rear doors, seats and windows. The Qubo is short and compact but surprisingly roomy for its size.
The engine choices are Fiat's super-economical 1.3 litre diesel engine and the 1.4 petrol which has an optional Dualogic six-speed transmission. There are two specification levels available; the Active and Dynamic. There is also an extensive range of accessories to aid load carrying and other needs.
Fiat says the distinctive looking Qubo is designed for people who are looking for substance rather than show and is a very functional vehicle. It is easily accessible with sliding rear side doors and a big tailgate which have nice wide openings.
The Qubo is surprisingly spacious and can accommodate five adults. There is plenty of head and elbow room; only leg room is tight. The driver's seat has a steering wheel that adjusts for rake and reach. The driver's seat also moves up, down and forwards and backwards which makes it more comfortable for the person driving.
In the Active version, trim is adequate and comes with driver and passenger airbags and ABS with Electronic Brake Distribution. It comes with rear headrests, power front windows and a radio CD player. With the Dynamic version you get the Blue&Me radio with MP3 player with telephone controls.
The Fiat Qubo is a no-frills practical car that may be bland to look at but is quite functional. The seats are comfortable and the low window line means you get a great view which makes it a relaxing car for passengers as well. A definate "well-done" to Fiat for this one - a no-nonsense, take-me-as-you-find-me, everyday practical piece of auto engineering!
