Birmingham Done, London Here We Come

21-11-2011

The all action, pulse quickening motoring extravaganza that is Top Gear Live is on its way to London after wowing audiences at the NEC last weekend.

Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May will now take their Olympic-inspired live action arena show to ExCeL London, along with Tiff Needell, Sabine Schmitz, Derek Bell and a host of celebrities, all taking part on the brand-new indoor track from the 24-27 November.

Birmingham’s NEC saw the launch of Top Gear Live’s updated format, which brought with it thrills and spills in the live show featuring the Top Gear presenting trio as they showcase their ideal alternative to the London 2012 Olympics.

Chariot Racing, Car Curling and Splat the Rat, were just some of the highlights from the show which also saw dancing JCBs, Lamborghini hurdling and amazing precision driving skills from the Top Gear Live stunt driving team.

The Stig was in full force on the track, a new addition to the live experience of Top Gear, as he tested the mettle of a selection of jaw-dropping supercars. The tame racing driver then briefed celebrities including Amy Williams, Gethin Jones and Mark Cavendish as they took part in the first ever live ‘star in a reasonably priced car’.

The legendary Group B rally cars, banned from racing for being too fast, were also on show in Birmingham as they sped around the Lotus configured indoor track which also saw Sabine Schmitz taking part in three spectacular races. The ‘Queen of the Ring’ raced in a variety of intense, high speed challenges, to showcase her world-renowned driving skills.

Visitors to Top Gear Live were also able to enjoy the large exhibition hall which featured the likes of the infamous ‘Cool Wall’, a replica of the Top Gear studio and a host of the most expensive cars in the world, all of which will now be moved to the capital for the second instalment of the event.
