About Car Warranty Insurance

Like most of us, your car is very likely your biggest investment next to your house, and critical to the convenience of your day to day living. It’s also expensive to run and maintain these days and even more expensive to repair if it suffers a mechanical breakdown, leaving you without wheels and with the likelihood of a big bill at the end of it all.

That’s why it’s so important to consider used car warranty insurance to protect your investment against the financial risks that come with car ownership… like how you’ll afford to pay for repairs once your car is no longer covered by the manufacturer’s warranty… even if you have a 7 year warranty that’s over three years old and your cover is rapidly decreasing, you’ll still need help with the growing list of components your manufacturer warranty no longer covers.

Just think for a moment. Even for those of us that can afford big repair bills, it’s a major chunk out of savings, and means that extras like holidays or other major plans have to take a back seat. And, if it’s a big repair, it can easily leave you with a bill for many hundreds of pounds and left wondering how you’ll manage to replace your savings.

What is a used car warranty?

A new car comes with a manufacturer warranty, and once this has come to an end the cost of breakdowns or failures becomes the vehicle owner’s responsibility… and, on occasion, this can have serious financial impact.

A used car warranty provides financial protection against such unforeseen mechanical breakdowns or electrical failures, paying you out to help cover the cost of repair, including parts, labour and VAT. The list of parts covered generally comprises the major mechanical and electrical components.

Servicing and Your Responsibilities

To keep your warranty valid and ensure claims are paid smoothly, it’s important to meet a few straightforward responsibilities.

  1. Service your vehicle: Always service your car according to the manufacturer’s recommended schedule. Keep all service records — you may need to show them when making a claim. You don’t need a full service history to start your policy. Just complete any overdue service within 21 days or 500 miles of your policy start date (whichever comes first).
  2. Keep your details up to date: Please notify us promptly of any changes to: your name, address, email and phone number, and your vehicle registration number.
  3. Maintain a valid MOT: Your vehicle must have at least 28 days of MOT remaining when you make a claim.
  4. Follow the claims process: Always contact our claims team before any repairs begin. We’ll guide you through the process and help arrange repairs with an approved repairer. How to Make a Claim

Staying on top of these responsibilities helps ensure your warranty remains valid and your claims are straightforward. If you’re ever unsure, just get in touch — we’re here to help.

Is there a limit to the number of claims I can make?

There’s no limit to the number of times you can claim, and your maximum benefit level per claim is the value you select. Remember too, there’s no pre-inspection and no waiting period applied.

  • Pay with a convenient monthly payment plan, including transaction fee, that consists of a 20% deposit in the first month, followed by just nine monthly payments to settle the balance. This is not a credit agreement, does not require any credit checks, and you’ll be covered the moment your deposit is received.

If you decide that you don’t need the protection that your warranty cover offers, you can cancel with a full premium refund during the first 30 days, as long as you haven’t made a claim, or don’t intend making one.
